Don't think I've heard of Caramilk, but they sound similar to other caramel candy bars I've had... Caramello, I think is the name down here.
We do have Smarties. The little tart candies in the clear cellophane. They're my favorites for Halloween. Maybe its different up there, though.

Those aren't the Smarties I'm referring to ..
http://www.nestle.com/Our_Brands/Cho...nery/Smarties/
It's amazing how our two countries can be so close geogrpahically, and yet we are still two VERY different batches of people ... Nestle Smarties are the bizomb ... take a trip up north and try 'em ... TOTALLY ...
EDIT - For instance ... ask one of our British friends on here about Twiglets ... they'll positively go MAD for those sometimes ... ... those and Heinz Baked Beans in a can ...

diffrent cultures develop diffrently no matter how close they are geographically. Those look like they might be VERY tastey however....I just might have to one day take you up on your suggestion

Based on the discription, I dont believe they hold much similarity to M&M's, except in looks

Am I missing something? Sugar coated chocolate. Except for the orange ones, they sound just like m&ms to me.... Guess I'll have to taste some to make sure.

well if the orange has orange in the center i'd imagine the other colors would have flavoring as well, cherry; lime; strawberry so on and so forth. Seemed like a logical connection to me.

Actually as she often is ... Swampy is correct ... the orange flavoured ones are variant ... the rest are all just candy covered chocolate ... however they have a different taste to them than M&M's ... off the top of my head I can't describe the diff, there just is one ...
Just like American Coke tastes different than Canadian Coke ... Man ... I could go on all day about THAT topic ...

Well, being that Nestle makes them (smarties)... Thier chocolate and Hersey's (M&M's) taste different.

Right, well my logic center's always been a little off. No need to explain, chocolote can taste diffrent based on how its made, or perhapes the sugar coat is created diffrently. Either way the fact that the orange is the only variant wont stop me from tryin it if I get anywhere near one. Chocolote is rarely safe from me once it's been spotted.
